Postmodernism and Music

•Work that is created Based on older material, this includes sampling.

What is sampling? Who uses it? and where is it played?

Sampling is the act of taking a small part or sample, of one sound recording and reusing in a different song. This is typically done with a sampler, which can be a piece of hardware or a computer program on a digital computer. People who sample are commonly referred to as producers or beat makers. For example in the song Human Behavious by Bjork a sample from Ray Brown Orchestra Go Down Dying, she has taken a sample from right at the begining of the song and has used it throughout her song. But then Hieroglyphics have sampled Bjork in their song, Let It Roll.
Some smapled music is mainstreamed, such as Florence and the Machines, You got the love. But there is alot of sampled music that on reaches a very niche market. to get more of an understanding of where you can listen to sampled music i had a look and listen online, and got some ideas from some friends who i know listen to artists.
